Pieve Fosciana
Le statue di Luca della Robbia
Coming by Castelnuovo, the first village we meet is Pieve Fosciana with an old parish church dedicated to St. John the Baptist.
The church dates back of the XIV century and has an interior completely altered as regardthe original structure.
It contains a baptesimal font of uncertain Gotic origin and near the high altar a group of statues in glazed terra cotta representing an Annunciation made by Luca della Robbia for the old Franciscan Convent.
At a short distance from the village there is a little lake formed by a termal spring of radioactive sulphureous waters.
